I first started researching natural and safe baby products when I was pregnant with our first child Emily. I check on the cosmetic Safety Database ( www.cosmeticsdatabase.com)which was recommended by a friend for a listing of which products were lowest risk etc. I was horrified to see some of the write-ups on the products that are carried in stores. Products that have quotes on the bottles like "all-natural colloidal oatmeal" etc. all the while containing ingredients that are harmful. Aveeno for instance. I couldn't believe some of the stuff contained in that product yet they can claim to be so "healthy". I then realized that like anything, you have to educate yourself about what is healthy and harmful to be able to make an informed decision. Marketing is obviously subjective.

I purchased some Simple Pure Clean Baby products such as Dusting Powder, Shampoo, Illuminating Lotion and Moon Mend (bum balm). By far these were the superior products. I found the dusting powder a little difficult to get out of the dispenser, however very much worth the effort. We had been using organic corn starch as recommended by my mother, but this was much nicer and softer on our newborns skin. Emily had been plagued by some chafing in her skin folds initially and this all disappeared once we started with product. Once we had used the first teaspoon from the dispenser, we had no other issues with getting it out. Evidently the bottle is just crammed very full.

The shampoo is amazing. No longer did we have the dreaded cradle cap and it takes only a very little to wash our little Emily. Her hair was squeaky clean, and her skin managed to maintain its moisture. This impressed me the most. Her hair was always soft and manageable as well.

I absolutely love the little Moon Mend (bum balm). We had used the EMAB product as well, but I liked the Seaside Natural (Simple Pure Clean)baby products much better. I found you only had to use very little to get good coverage. In the meantime, I found it a little lumpy when I initially opened the container, but if stored in a warm place it sorted itself out and it smoothed out on my little ones skin as I was spreading it. Not too much hardship to endure!

The only comment I have about the baby products in a negative light is the scent. My husband doesn't care for the smell, however I found it REFRESHING. My niece who also has a new baby found the EMAB products a little too overpowering and preferred the Seaside Naturals baby products scent. I guess that is just our personal differences.
